All birds returning to the U.K. require an Import Permit and must undergo 35 days quarantine on the owner's own premises.

Some countries do not accept birds of the parrot family. Normally no more than 2 birds are accepted from one owner. Certain breeds of birds are banned. Wild birds are banned for shipment by airlines. The shipment of birds classed as Endangered Species are strictly controlled.
