MICROCHIP. Dogs and cats must be identified by a microchip or a tattoo in the animals ear.
VACCINATIONS. Dogs must be vaccinated against Rabies, Distemper and Parvo Virus and cats must be vaccinated against Rabies, Cat Flu and Feline Enteritis. These inoculations must be done at least 30 days and no more than 12 months prior to export. The vaccination details must be entered into a vaccination certificate and also on to the DEFRA Export Health Certificate.
PRE EXPORT ISOLATION. Although the Chinese Veterinary Authorities have not specified which conditions the pre export isolation should meet, LVI Veterinary Surgeons should ensure that the animal is held at the owners U.K. residence for 30 days and does not have the opportunity to come into contact with any other animals not similarly certifiable during this isolation period. A declaration must be produced by the owner to the effect that the animal has shown no signs of illness during this period.
In addition to examining the animal/s prior to entering the pre isolation period the premises as well must be inspected and the animal inspected after approximately 15 days isolation. The dog/cat can be held during the isolation period if required at Par Air Kennels and Cattery in Colchester.

TREATMENTS. Within 30 days of shipment the dog/ cat must be treated for ticks and worms using approved products such as Frontline and Drontal. During the 30 days prior to shipment dogs must be treated against Leptospirosis two times and 14 days apart using dihydrostreptomycin at 25mg per kilo live body weight. A DEFRA Export Health Certificate is required for dogs and cats entering China, and this certificate must be signed by an L.V.I (Local Veterinary Inspector) within 24 hours of shipment.
DISINFECTION & CONTAINERS. A certificate must be supplied by Par Air Services stating the animal will be transported from the isolation premises in a container and vehicle previously cleaned and disinfected using a DEFRA approved product.
AIRPORTS OF ARRIVAL & PROCEDURES. Dogs and cats can only enter at Beijing, Shanghai or Guangzhou. On arrival at Beijing there is 30 days home quarantine, at Shanghai 7 days home quarantine, and Guangzhou no quarantine. One pet per person's passport allowed. Pets can only clear customs on arrival providing the person collecting the animal at the airport of arrival has the same name that appears on the documentation used to transport the animal.
